Sturgeon County launches the Shop the Season campaign to support local businesses

Sturgeon County isn’t just asking you to shop local – they’re helping connect residents and visitors with local businesses this holiday season.

“Shopping at local businesses is always a great idea, but it’s particularly important this year with so many small businesses struggling due to the pandemic and the economy,” said Mayor Alanna Hnatiw. “Our region is home to many small businesses that offer beautiful handmade, unique, and custom products and services and this is a great opportunity for us to give back to the community while checking things off our holiday shopping list.”

The Shop the Season website lists small businesses located in Sturgeon County, Bon Accord, Gibbons, Legal, Morinville, and Redwater that offer unique options for holiday shopping. There is no cost to be included on the site and local businesses can become part of the Shop the Season listing by completing the online registration form.

“Almost anything you need to celebrate the holiday season can be found in the Sturgeon County region,” said Mayor Hnatiw. “Through the Shop the Season campaign, we can highlight our local artists, vendors, and entrepreneurs. I encourage anyone who’s interested to take advantage of this great opportunity to promote your business.”

Information on the Shop the Season campaign can be found at sturgeoncounty.ca/Shop-the-Season

Businesses interested in being added to the Shop the Season listing can complete the online form or contact Amy Oshanyk, Economic Development Specialist, at 780-939-8367 or email aoshanyk@sturgeoncounty.ca
